The Himlung Himal Expedition is a true test of mountaineering skills and endurance, attracting adventurer enthusiasts from around the world. Himlung is often referred to as “The Home of Snow Leopard,” is located in the Manaslu region, relatively close to the Annapurna Massif. It demands exceptional technical proficiency, unwavering determination, and peak physical fitness. The expedition typically spans 24-26 days.
The journey to conquer Himlung Himal begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar, followed by a trek through picturesque villages and lush of green forests. As trekkers ascend, they gradually immerse themselves in the serene beauty of the Himalayas, acclimatizing to the increasing altitudes.
The base camp, situated at approximately 4,850 meters, serves as the initial hub for preparations and acclimatization. From there, climbers progress to Camp I at 5,450 meters and Camp II at 6,000 meters. From Camp II, the climb becomes even more challenging, with steep ice and rock sections. Our Sherpa team normally set two camps namely camp I and Camp II. From camp2, climbers can directly ascend summit. The true reward of the Himlung Himal Expedition lies not just in reaching the summit but in the breathtaking views. From the summit, climbers are treated to panoramic vistas of the surrounding peaks, including Manaslu, Annapurna, and Ganesh Himal etc.
The Himlung Himal region offers a rich cultural experience. Trekkers and climbers have the opportunity to interact with local communities, including the Gurungs and Tibetans, known for their warm hospitality. Along the way, Buddhist monasteries and prayer flags provide insight into the spiritual traditions of the Himalayan people.
